IV Sedation

IV Sedation

IV Sedation In Magnolia, TX

What is IV Sedation?

In many cases, IV sedation becomes essential for oral surgeries and complex dental procedures. This process entails the insertion of a small IV into your arm to administer a safe sedative into your system. This gradually induces a sleep-like state, greatly enhancing your comfort and making the procedure smoother for you. IV sedation is considered safe for the majority of patients and is frequently recommended for those undergoing more invasive treatments.

Why is IV Sedation needed?

There are several reasons why IV sedation could be the most suitable choice for you. If you are facing oral surgery or a highly complex procedure and prefer to be in a sedated state, IV sedation is an option. Similarly, we may suggest this sedative if you find it difficult to remain still or relaxed during treatment. IV sedation can alleviate the challenges associated with staying seated during treatment, making it a more comfortable experience for both you and our staff.

Who is a candidate for IV Sedation?

The majority of patients visiting our office are typically suitable candidates for IV sedation. Before recommending any type of sedative, we conduct a comprehensive review of your health and medical history. If you are unable to undergo sedation, it's crucial that you inform us during your appointment. IV sedation is an option available for both pediatric and adult patients who may require it.

What happens during IV Sedation?

The process commences by ensuring your comfortable seating in one of our operatories. Subsequently, a small IV is gently inserted into your arm to administer a safe and effective sedative into your system. In approximately 15 minutes, you will gradually enter a sleep-like state. We then proceed with the necessary procedure. Following the procedure, the IV is carefully removed from your arm, and you are accompanied to one of our designated recovery rooms. You are allotted ample time to awaken fully before leaving our office. It is imperative that you have a friend or family member available to provide transportation home when needed.
